XUPSTAR is an artist duo co-founded by Patrick Monte and Brian Questa in 2012 that produces art installations, performances, and experimental music internationally. Our work uses exaggerated procedures to highlight issues of systematic restraint and blends elements of conceptual art, composition, improvisation, programming, and performance.
Our performances and installations have been presented at venues including the International Symposium on Electronic Arts, Centro de Cultura Digital Mexico City, MUMUTH Graz, the Japan Media Arts Festival, the International Computer Music Conference, Dome of Visions Copenhagen, Aufbauhaus Berlin, Sala Luis Miró Quesada Garland Lima, and California College of the Arts San Francisco, among others. Our 2014 Liebig 12 Berlin Artist-in-Residence project "Missing the Point" is available as a self-published book, and "Collision Index," an album recorded with the renown Dutch drummer Han Bennink, is currently forthcoming.
