American Heritage (2013)

Performance at Panoply Performance Lab, Brooklyn, NY

For 'American Heritage' we cut over 25 hours worth of audio into 253 individual 5-10 second tracks and titled them using a random method. The tracks were compiled into a stereo audio track, where they play forward in the left channel and backward in the right channel. The audio was synced with a video of the titles that changes with each short audio track. As the video and audio played, we searched through large American Heritage dictionaries for the words on screen. Pages were torn out with the shifting of each title.
